FATHER’S RIGHTS ACTIVIST AUTHORS COMPELLING BOOK ON PARENTAL ALIENATION SYNDROME
THE NETHERLANDS – 4 June 2004 – He is an artist, a pedagogue and a Father. His activism in the Fathers’ Rights arena and success in having his child custody/child visitation rights case heard by the European Court of Human Justice have caused many to view him as Europe’s Champion of Father’s Rights. He is Mr. Joep Zander and his compelling book on parental alienation -- Mother-Child-Father – was recently published.
“ ‘Mother-Child-Father’ is a trilogy on parental alienation This is the second Dutch book about Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAS). My book is built around three recent in-depth interviews with, respectively, a child, her mother and her father within the context of the parental divorce 15 years ago and the subsequent parental alienation of the child, now a mother herself. The interviews are cross-referenced with a summary of the judicial files covering the custody battles between the parents. ‘Mother-Child-Father’ includes articles on the consequences of loyalty conflicts of children with separated parents; the various international positions on PAS and the current debate on PAS in the Netherlands. The last chapter explores the potential for reporting an alienating parent for child abuse, aiming at criminal prosecution. I hope it is clear, for readers, that the book is in Dutch. It might be interesting to translate it some day if there is some interest in other parts of the world. Perhaps this way of looking back at a PAS- situation might be – but I’m not sure – quite new and unique because the mother criticizes her former behavior and that of her former environment including the institutions. Perhaps it is interesting to know that the reading of the first Dutch PAS-book about the ‘child’ directly led to recognition and later on the recovery of the Child-Father relation as now described in this book,”” Mr. Zander explained.
In addition to writing “Mother-Father-Child”, Mr. Zander is also the book’s illustrator. “Mother-Father-Child” is published by Rela Book. Copies of the book which is written in the Dutch language can be ordered through this site.
